Pre-Pointe Assessments
Starting to dance en pointe is one of the most exciting times in a young ballet dancer’s life.
It is a requirement that all ballet dances have a Pre-Pointe Assessment before purchasing your first pair of pointe shoes.. This is to ensure that your body is ready and safe to dance en pointe.
Our Podiatrist, Sophie, has been trained to conduct thorough pre-pointe assessments and prepare dancers for the demands of pointe work.
Your assessment will include:
- A thorough history, including previous injuries, current exercise, and what dance lessons you are participating in as well as your goals for dancing.
- Your posture and dance technique will be assessed focusing on your core control, hip turnout ability, and foot/ankle mobility and strength.
- A specific exercise program will be prescribed that will help improve your mobility, strength and technique.
- Pointe shoe recommendations
- Detailed report to give to your dance teacher
