Signs you need to see a Podiatrist...

You can be excused for thinking that a Podiatrist is someone you only need to see as you get older OR if you have some sort of foot injury to deal with!

Well, we’re here to tell you that we come in handy for much more than that, and that you certainly shouldn’t wait until you need us to see us!

We’re willing to bet you can find a reason to see us amongst some of the most common listed below!

1. Heel pain

Often heel pain is something that you push through, especially when it’s just a dull ache that comes and goes when it pleases. Whilst that may seem like the easiest option, it’s setting you up for plenty more pain and inconvenience down the track.

Any sort of heel pain is abnormal and warrants a visit to the Podiatrist. There are plenty of things we can do to treat the condition, and to stop you from causing further and more permanent damage down the track!

2. Tired and aching lower limbs

This is a VERY common one and we’re willing to bet you’ve experienced it at some point! It’s even more common in industries where you are required to be on your feet for long periods of time, and often it’s something that can be fixed with an assessment of your footwear or a pair of custom orthotics.

Orthotics are also covered by most private health policies, so you’d be crazy not to make the most of your extras and get yourself a pair sorted - if that’s what your Podiatrist determines you need!

3. Bunions and hammertoes – any sort of bone deformity

They aren’t the prettiest of sights and they can become very painful if not properly addressed. Whilst there are surgery options down the track, we highly recommend seeking advice from your podiatrist before going there.

An expert care plan can often result in a huge improvement in pain and function!

4. Any skin and nail concerns on your feet

There is a huge array of conditions that can affect the skin and nails on your feet including:

- Plantar warts

- Ingrown toenails

- Recurrent blistering

- Thickened and yellowed fungal nails

- Corns and callouses

Often these are easy to manage conditions, especially when caught early, and we are fully equipped with the expertise and equipment to diagnose and manage them.

We also have access to state-of-the-art equipment which is available – especially when it comes to our treatment options for Plantar Warts and Fungal Nail Treatments.

So, if you’ve visited a doctor or podiatrist in the past with one of these concerns but are yet to find a solution to the condition, it is well worth checking in to see if we can help.

New technology is available on the regular and at Sole Focus we are dedicated to giving our clients access to the best treatment options available!

5. Just because!

Just like your dentist, an annual check-up with your Podiatrist is the best way to ensure optimal lower limb health.

We can often pick up on things which you may not be aware of that could cause you pain or discomfort down the track if left untreated. Our lower limbs quite literally carry us through life, so it makes a lot of sense that we give them the care and attention that they deserve.

If you’re a sport-lover or in a career that has you on your feet all day – you have even more reason to see us!

So, take this as your reminder to look after your lower limbs and to book an appointment in with your Podiatrist.

We’re here to help you be the best version of yourself!
